Getting started
When does CalDog launch?
UK summer 2026. Sign up for the waitlist and we'll email when we go live in the App Store and Google Play.
What devices is it on?
iPhones running iOS 16 and newer, and Android phones running Android 10 (API 29) and newer. A native iOS home-screen widget ships at launch; the Android equivalent follows two weeks later.
Can I track more than one dog?
Yes — Premium tracks unlimited dogs, including separate calorie targets, weights and BCS history per pet. The free tier supports one dog.
Body-condition score
Is the BCS a diagnosis?
No. We return an estimated range on the WSAVA 1–9 scale, never a categorical label like "obese." Even between vets, BCS agreement is moderate at best (ICC ~0.66 in published studies). Treat the result as informational and bring it to your vet for a clinical assessment.
How accurate is one photo?
Less accurate than a vet exam — significantly less. We return a 2-point range with a confidence indicator and always include a 'discuss with your vet' prompt. The signal is most useful as a weekly tracker, watching the range drift over time.
What happens to my dog's photo?
Your phone strips EXIF metadata and blurs any detected human faces or number plates before upload. The cropped dog region is sent to Anthropic's commercial API for the WSAVA estimate, then deleted from our servers within 24 hours. Inputs and outputs are not used to train Anthropic's models.
Pricing & billing
Is the free tier really free?
Yes — one dog, one body-condition check per week, calorie targets and daily logging are free forever. We don't show ads. Premium unlocks unlimited BCS, multi-dog, the widget and 90-day trends.
How do I cancel?
Subscriptions are managed via the App Store or Google Play. Refunds are processed by Apple or Google per their policies.
Do you offer family plans?
Not at launch. A single Premium subscription covers unlimited dogs on one Apple ID or Google account. Family sharing follows Apple and Google's standard subscription-sharing flows.
Privacy & data
Where is my data stored?
In the EU. Account data, feeding logs and BCS history sit in Supabase's Frankfurt region; backend services run on Google Cloud Run in europe-west1. Anthropic's API processes BCS photos in the US region under commercial terms.
Do you train AI on my photos?
No. CalDog never trains AI models on your photos. Anthropic's commercial API does not use API inputs or outputs to train its models per their published commercial terms.
For vets
Are you partnered with vets?
Not formally — CalDog cites WSAVA, FEDIAF and NRC publications but is not endorsed by any of them. We're talking to UK practices about referral and clinical-validation partnerships; if you'd like to be involved, email vets@caldog.app.
Can I refer a client to CalDog?
Yes — there's no formal referral programme yet, but if you'd like client-facing PDFs or a vet-handover screen in the app, we'd love to design it with you.
